Tiny Bit of Joy

Do you know that fantstic smell of a piece of paper as it slides out of the printer still hot to the touch? In the winter, you savor holding it so the heat is trapped by your fingers and you bring it slowly up to your nose for that wonderful smell of bleached wood pulp and fresh ink. This tiny bit of ecstatic joy may tread awfully close to the DSM-IV definition of fetishism (although they do tend to catastrophize) -- but it makes the day so much... more... yes, more sensual and wonderful.

Can you imagine how your pulse would race and your heart would skip if you could be the one to slide that subpeona to Karl Rove off the printer? How would it feel to be the first to stroke that creamy, thick legal stock while it was still warm -- enjoying the texture and thrilling at the thought of it's implication and potential???

Hmmmm. politically it is long past due...sensually, it can't come close to beating the smell of mimeograph.
