Add It Up
Someone told me they don't read my blog anymore because there is too much about me that doesn't add up, but that it is not up for debate or discussion.
What the hell does that mean? Who adds up? I am a person, not an equation. That's why I hated math in school. This notion that you can quantify anything -- even something as vast and confused and holy as the abstract -- all of that business about the imaginary number i. It seems sacreligious somehow.
On the other hand, I had no problems with higher math in science. Once you attached math to figuring out the velocity of a 2 lb sphere hurling throught the air at a 35 degree angle, then it made sense to me. Maybe that was what was meant by not adding up.
I don't care. Nothing adds up. I just try to be kind and survive with a modicum of artistry. Other people's yardsticks chafe.

Or maybe we ARE equations...quantum equations...just probabilities and possibilities collapsing in awesome creative waves with every passing instant. Or, then again, maybe not. I think most people hate to get pigeonholed. On the other hand, people who aren't good at what they do don't often get pigeonholed, so there's a good chance, since you've been categorized as an equation, that you're doing something well.
And it was such a good day until I read your post, and the comment by Joec.
